Sports Medicine Fellowship
The family medicine residency program hosts a fully-accredited fourth-year position in
Sports Medicine, leading to a Certificate of Added Qualification.
During this one-year fellowship, the fellow serves as team physician for LA Harbor
College, California State University-Dominguez Hills, the Long Beach Ice Dogs hockey
team, and as part of the Training to Win team caring for 24 local high schools in the
South Bay area.
This unique program encompasses a full range of athletes in different sports, as well as
focusing on individuals with chronic medical conditions. Clinical experience is gained in a
variety of clinic settings at Harbor-UCLA, Kaiser Permanente, and the offices of a
sports-trained orthopedic surgeon in private practice.
Events covered include the LA Karate Cup, Long Beach marathon, Los Angeles marathon, women's
professional football (Long Beach Quakes), Los Angeles Police Department Pool Team (Blue
Knights), Hermosa Beach Bash (AVP volleyball), and X-Games.
